There are differences between the Second Generation 1941-53 with Low-Pressure Oil System (dipper splash system) and the Third Generation 1954-1962 with High-Pressure Oil System (internal lubrication).

1953 has a Low Pressure and a High Pressure version since it was the transition year.
We need to know which you have, send photos of both sides of block.
Tell us your Engine Block Casting number, it is 7 numbers, located in bottom right, or middle.

Chevy 235 engines 1955 and Prior may be a Hybrid Combination.
If your model has Babbitted Rods and Scoopers, like a 216, it is the Low Pressure version.
